“It’s not about the shoes. It’s about knowing where you are going. Not forgetting where you started. It’s about having the courage to fail. Not breaking when you’re broken. Taking everything you have been given and making something better. It’s about work before glory and what’s inside of you. It’s doing what they say you can’t. It’s not about the shoes, it’s about what you do in them. It’s about being who you are born to be.” Michael Jordan
Cameron “Cam” Coye (October 27, 1999 – October 31, 2014) was smart, athletic and creative. He had a great sense of humor — and was loved deeply by his family and friends.
Our community has rallied around Cam’s love of basketball and created an annual outdoor 3 on 3 basketball tournament in Cam’s memory. The tournament is open to boys and girls (3rd – 12th grades) and adults. Proceeds from the tournament benefit the GAA (Georgetown Athletic Association) and the Cam Coye Memorial Scholarship Fund.
The inaugural 3 on 3 tournament in 2016 was a friendly basketball competition supported by more than 140 players from 14 towns and over 100 volunteers. In 2017, we had over 240 players representing 26 towns!
